MTI Controls and Video Integration
The MTI ProVision Integrated Control System directly and seamlessly interfaces with Video Surveillance systems through the implementation of OnVIF Profile S, an international standard for interoperability in Video Surveillance. This integration provides rich features to the control system and allows the operator to maintain a singular focus on the security of the facility.
How It Works
MTI has developed an application that is part of the ProVision application suite, known as Hinley, which is used to establish a “media map” of the video surveillance system. This media map represents each camera on the system, with its streaming and control information. From this media map, the Hinley application, running in viewing mode on each individual control station, can pull streams for each camera. Control stations can be managed to restrict the user to specific views, allow or restrict certain cameras, and even limit the menu options and view modes the user can access.
Benefits of this Interface
Because of the nearly universal adoption of the OnVIF Profile S standard by video surveillance providers, MTI’s implementation of this standard means that our software can interface with any reputable provider.
MTI does not have to maintain separate Application Programming Interfaces (API) for the numerous video surveillance providers. This benefits the end user because it avoids the situation in which there is a mismatch between the version of API that MTI developed for and the version the VS provider is using.
The interface between MTI and the VS system means that the integrated control system can now display video when certain actions are taken or inputs are given to the control system.
When an intercom call-in is answered, the MTI system can pull up video from an associated camera to display the view of the person at the intercom station.
When an alarm comes in for a duress point or perimeter alarm (or any other alarm condition), the camera for that associated alarm can be automatically displayed.
When an invalid card read occurs, the camera associated with that reader can be displayed.
